Objective

The goal of the project was to redesign the website for Beverly Records, a local record store with a website that has gone unchanged since 2012. The reason for this project was to suggest a design that would be modern, easy to navigate, and visually appealing to both PC and mobile users.

Process

I started out studying other websites that have a similar purpose. I used this research to give me ideas for logos and website layouts. When I had a loose idea of what I wanted the site pages to look like, I went on to wireframing. The final site is very similar to how I had the wireframes set up as I felt they were simple enough. I then took my logo sketches and began creating finalized logos in Illustrator. I made one logo for mobile phones and another for desktop pages. I then used Figma to create a mockup layout based on the sketches and added in the finalized logos. I created two layouts that were based on my wireframes until the final version was complete.

Synopsis

This project is likely similar to other redesign projects. Along with creating a new layout mockup I also suggested a new logo and color scheme for the website. The logos were inspired by minimalism, with their design being inspired by icons in the Adobe Creative Cloud suite. Other local record store websites inspired this one as well, they mainly inspired the layout and order of information.

Results

The project met all deadlines for the class and received good feedback.
